We celebrated a new season for Bella's Retreat at an Open House Garden Party, June 29, 2007. None of us were in hot water that day, however... |

. . . one week later, the hot tub, a.k.a The Pond, was installed in just enough time for a quick dip and then we were off to the WFF.
Many summer hours were soaked away beneath the canopy of grape vines. |

A bumper crop of apples enticed many sidewalk-ers to stop and salivate, so I left a sample basket at the gate. My neighbours are very honourable and donated a total of $7.20 in just a few days. Most of the harvest was juiced for cider. |

These periwinkle blossoms appeared as a surprise to me, on a biennial lettuce I was farming for seed. The blooms were only open in the cool early morning puppy-walking hours. They were closed up and looked dried out by noon. |
This geranium is one of several I have overwintered and kept alive for a few years. The size of a small shrub, it blooms most joyfully in the heat of mid-summer. |

Some of summer's treasures: a bedframe/cucumber lattice, free from a garage sale in Osborne Village; nasturtium flowers/salad ingredients; an onion overlooked in the soil last autumn, blossoms and produces seed for next year's crop. |

I have found these two rings in the past couple of years while digging in the dirt in the front yard. I don't think I want to ever meet the previous owner of the teeth... |

It's easy to find your happy place while soaking in the hot swirly waters of The Pond, clusters of grapes hanging overhead... |
